Four weeks

I only have video of Charlotte's one month pictures.
I only took our video camera to Ohio, so I will post pictures
when I get them off of my brother's camera.

I am using my sister-in-law, Sara's idea of using
numbered candles to mark Charlotte's monthly
birthday pictures for her first 12 months.

Charlotte's Expressions

Charlotte is almost three weeks old in these pictures.
At her two week appointment she weighed 9 lbs. (72%)
and 21.5 inches (87%). I thought this was pretty impressive
since she had dropped to 7 lbs. 13 oz. when we left the hospital!

We just can't get enough of all of her expressions!
She is often very serious and it just makes you wonder...
what on earth is she thinking?

Our sweet tired baby!

This is one of my favorites - just captures her perfectly!

Charlotte's First Week

Wow! No one can prepare you for parenthood! You love this little baby, but you're just not sure if you're going to survive! I quickly learned why it is so important to sleep when the baby sleeps, you never know when she will sleep again --- and it could be a while!

We had wonderful help the first two weeks! My parents came to stay for a week, my brother and his family came for a day trip, Adam's parents came for the 2nd week and his sister and brother-in-law came for a weekend! Our house was full, but we wouldn't have had it any other way! We couldn't have done it without all the help or without all the meals provided by friends! Thank you again and again!

PS - Bella is doing great with Charlotte! She was my little nurse-maid, joining me in the nursery for every feeding (even in the middle of the night)! At this point in the game (when I thought I'd never leave the nursery, much less the house) I considered making her a doggy bed to match the nursery decor! Luckily we get out now, so Bella can choose from her 5 other beds scattered throughout the house instead : )

Charlotte's Birth Day!

Charlotte joined the world after 31 hours of labor.
Let me give you a quick synopsis...
6 pm Saturday, January 30th - water broke
11 pm - checked into hospital
6 am Sunday, January 31st- started Pitocin
9 am - received my epidural (LOVE epidurals)
We had a wonderful day, really we did.
We watched movies and I napped and just
enjoyed our last day as a childless couple.
See...

9 pm - received 2nd epidural
Obviously it took a while for things to progress,
and we thought we would have to have a c-section at
two separate times. Fortunately, we had a very
patient OB who was willing to wait it out with us.
12:15 am February 1st - started pushing
1:12 am - Charlotte was born!

She weighed 8lbs. 10oz. and was 21 inches long.

We were thrilled!!!
